Or at least gently bump into one another…

Wednesday evening Veronica and I were supposed to have a late dinner with our good friend, my former office wife, and object of fantasy, Lisa.  The timing was perfect, as Emmy and Garbonzo were due into town the following afternoon and we were hoping to spend the bulk of our free time visiting with them and sightseeing around the city.  Unfortunately, Lisa had something come up and asked if we could reschedule for later in the week. I told her not to worry about it and we would figure something out.

Thursday morning [after making a quick round of my favorite HNT’ers, because I do have my priorities] I ran into Lisa, who suggested dinner Friday evening. Sure, why not, we’ll explain to Emmy and Garbonzo that we were going to have dinner with some other friends and catch up with them later.

But Veronica, as always quick with an alibi, suggests that perhaps we can all have dinner together, with the cover story that she and Garbonzo knew each from discussion boards on www.allrecipes.com. They both love to cook, so it’s at least plausible, right? We made plans for dinner and filled Emmy and Garbonzo in on the cover story.

We all meet in the hotel lobby and introductions are made all around. Along with Lisa is Janet, who works as the research assistant in the laboratory of our old doctoral advisor. Janet was the ‘mom’ in the lab, keeping everything running and dealing with many of the day-to-day aspects of running an academic research lab. Emmy and Garbonzo currently live in the same city that Lisa’s husband is from, so they immediately have fodder for conversation, which leads to the discovery that Lisa’s aunt is a professor at a college in the mid-west, the same college that Emmy and Garbonzo attended. They even know who Lisa’s aunt is!

So there I am at dinner, Veronica to my left, Janet to my right, and Emmy, Garbonzo and Lisa across from us. Janet, the 50-something, conservative, prudish, mother figure; Lisa, my dear, dear friend, who has not a clue about this blog [we have a family friendly clean blog that she does know about; don’t try finding it on your own, it’s under a different Google account…]. And then there is Emmy and Garbonzo, who know us because of our blogs. Garbonzo in particular has been a fan of Veronica’s HNTs since at least last September and they of course know all about our extra-marital adventures. There I sat, looking across the table at my friends, thinking “If Lisa only knew what they know…”

On our last night in town, Veronica and I finally got around to fucking on the window ledge in our hotel room. With the lights on and the curtains open. If anyone saw a couple fucking through a window of a room on the 17th floor of the Seattle Sheraton on Saturday night, that was us ;-)

Emmy was kind enough to serve as our photographer…

BTW, Emmy wrote a little recap of our weekend here.

    Scenic view. :)

I’m glad you guys had a good time.

Nothing like a little game of 6-degrees of separation between blogger world and the “real world” to make the night interesting. BTW: that does make us connected to you both through Lisa by, I believe, three-degrees. Garbanzo actually took at least 2 classes from Lisa’s aunt at college. What a funny night all around!

And Veronica’s cover story was perfect. Hell, she even, on the fly, connected her and I through an HR question due to my HR department sucking (which was a conversation we had earlier in the day). Your wife has a talent…one of many.

I was happy to play photographer! Any time! ;-)

Explanations to ‘unblog’ friends on how you know ‘blog’ friends can be interesting. I’ve found the key is to keep it very simple. Otherwise, you end up playing fast and loose with the truth and I’d rather not flat-out lie if I absolutely don’t have to.. Mostly because I don’t want to have to remember to keep up with the lie!! :) :)
Oh, and it looks like a ‘good time was had by all’!!!

Welcome home! I have stayed in that hotel, plenty of places for mischief. ;)

I love the rush of the worlds whooshing by one another. I’m generally not a gambler, but there’s something about getting away with it that appeals to me.
