If anyone has made it over to my friend Garbonzo’s blog and read his post about joining Veronica and I in Seattle, you may have noticed his reference to kilts.

You might want to return on Thursday…  ;-)

——————————————————————————————————————————————————

I’m writing this from my sisters house in NY.  I returned home to news that an old friend from my youth died last week and decided that I had to go pay my respects.  I was reminded of a few things:

  • 40 is way too goddamn young to die
  • There is perhaps nothing sadder in life that watching a mother bury her child.  Heartbreaking does not begin to describe it
  • Be careful mixing prescription drugs, the results can be fatal.  Her death was an accidental overdose
  • It’s a shame that as the years go by, friends are brought together more by sad events than by happy ones
  • Some of my best friends are people I’ve known for 25-30 years [remember, I'm 39] and my life is better because they are a part of it.  I’m going to do a better job at staying in touch with them.

TMI Tuesday #189- Dating Edition

1. What was the last movie you saw on a date?

Darling Boy and I had a man-date to see Night at the Museum a week or so ago.  With Veronica, it was probably Batman last summer.  We tend to do other things on dates ;-)

2. What was the last meal you had on a date?

I had bangers and mash at an English Pub in Seattle with Veronica, Emmy and Garbonzo.

3. When was the last time you made out in the car on a date? More?

A few weeks ago, driving home from a strip club.  I seem to remember Veronica blowing me while I drove home.

4. Using a dating websites do you think you are more likely to find a “hook up” or a relationship?

Well, since we go looking for hook-ups…

Don’t look at me that way!  What do you think swingers websites are for?  Of course, our goal is to find a friends with benefits situation, so perhaps a “hook-up relationship” is what we’re looking for and hope to find!

5. Do you have any special “first” date rituals? Flowers, certain restaurant, etc.

Not really.  Though Veronica and I try to arrange it that we’re NOT sitting next to each other with the other couple.  She’ll try to sit with the other man, leaving me and the other woman to sit together.  Makes flirting and casual contact much easier that way.

BONUS QUESTION: Do you believe in sex on the first date? Can a relationship bloom if you have sex on the first date?

Sure, why not?  Though we’ve only had sex on the first date with another couple once and actually prefer NOT to do so.  I don’t see why a relationship can’t bloom if you have sex on a first date, but I’m lacking experience in that area.  Any volunteers?

————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Veronica has her TMI answers up as well, along with the story of our visit to the worst strip club EVER in Seattle.  And of course if you visit Tits for Troops today you’ll see both of us.  Have I ever told you that my wife has fan-fucking-tastic tits?  You should check her out ;-)

I’m glad after the long week away from the kids and work, you were able to make the trip down to say good-bye to an old friend.

I was just talking with a friend about that fourth bullet point the other day. It’s getting to the point where I wear a suit for more funerals than weddings.

  • Professor Fate

My condolences. I agree with everything in the “death” section.

We tend to do the *other* things after (sometimes during….*ahem*…) the movies ;) My Husband is a *complete* movie buff, lol. It’s the only reason we see SO many of them.

So sorry to hear of your friend. That really is upsetting to hear of such things. *hugs*

I am so glad that you got to go and see your friends and pay your respects.

    So sorry for your loss.

Forty is definitely too young to die. And a parent should not have to bury a child.

That’s awful. A similar thing happened a few years ago to me, a guy I used to go to primary school with died of a sudden heart attack at school, and we were only 17. But it just goes to show it doesn’t get easier no matter what age it is. Hope you’re ok :)
Also re: Veronica blowing you in the car on the way home. Seriously, if I am half as lucky as you guys when I get married I will be totally happy – I love how much fun you have ;)
    Much love
    xxxx

Im sorry to hear about your loss…

Always brings things a little closer to home when you have to bury a friend.. especially one so young.
