By the time you’re reading this post, I’ve walked into the house, Southern Vixen on my heels.
And Veronica had no idea that she was coming to visit!!!!
Long-time readers will know that we are very good friends with Southern Vixen, regardless of the 800 or so miles between us, but we have not seen her in quite a while. While SoVix and I got together for an overnight visit back in July and we also met for breakfast in early September, those were work trips for me and Veronica missed out on seeing her. They haven’t seen each other since last January.
For months we’ve talked about getting SoVix to come visit us for a long weekend, which she really wanted to do. Sometime in August I hatched the idea of her visiting for Veronica’s birthday weekend and mentioned the idea to her. She was all over the idea, ran it by her husband and soon bought her plane ticket.
All the while, we’ve been lying to Veronica, making excuses as to why SoVix can’t get away- kid obligations, money issues, spouse issues. Meanwhile, I’ve been feigning irritation with SoVix and I’ve been setting things up with lies of my own. Veronica thought I had to work late today, for a very plausible reason. But what I was really doing was driving to the airport to pick up SoVix. Earlier in the week I suggested to Veronica that we get a sitter for Saturday night so that we could have a date night, just me and her. I don’t think Veronica will mind the extra company for dinner and a visit to our favorite strip club!
Drafting this on Friday morning, I’m smiling in anticipation of the look on Veronica’s face when I walk in the door with SoVix. I wonder if I can manage to get some pictures of the moment?

Blog Discovery
I suppose there are all sorts of ways to find new blogs to read. Exploring the blogs of those who comment is a great way, as is checking out other people’s blogrolls. That’s really why I have a blogroll, for other people to see what I read. I actually don’t use my blogroll at all, as I rely on Google Reader for keeping up with my favorite blogs.
Along these lines, on Monday Veronica posted her own meme, wherein she went to the 5th blog on her blog roll, then to the 5th one of that blog and so on, until she got to the 5th blog. So I thought I would give it a try.
Starting on my blog, we find Dewey’s F*cking System. He is a fellow HNTer with a unique living situation at home. There is some good writing (I loved Hot Blogger Island and was pissed that he thought of it first!) and for the ladies, some of you might think he’s kinda good lookin’.
Next is Love and Lust, written by Hypersexual Girl, who is an American living with her husband in Australia. She posts a lot of funny and/or quirky pictures, along with some smokin’ hot HNT pictures.
But next is one I never heard of before, The Playlist, which then took me to something called Witz.org, which doesn’t have a blogroll. So it seems that I’ve ended up outside of the realm of the blogosphere I’m familiar with and landed on some pop culture sites. Oh well. Since Dewey’s blogroll is ordered based on who updated the most recently, if I try this again the results will be different.
Two things this little exercise reminded me of- for all the blog reading I do, there are A LOT of blogs I’ve never heard of, and my blog roll is seriously out of date. That’s a consequence of using Google Reader for keeping up with my favorite blogs. When I find some free time (hahahaha) I really should update my blogroll.
