One of the joys of living in the northern part of the country is frost heaves. For you southern types, these occur when water gets under asphalt or concrete, then freezes and expands, forces sections upward.

For this shot I’m laying on the ground in the garage doorway and you can see the the storm door for the side entrance, which doesn’t open any further due to the frost heave there. In the summer there is about 1/2″ clearance under the door- maybe when it thaws I’ll remember to get this same shot again to show you the difference.
