Editor’s Pick

  • Pirates Pendant Vibe by OnIntimacy
  • I was skeptical. I like my bullet vibes, but rarely happen upon an occasion in which it would be helpful to have one disguised as jewelry. I had a lipstick vibe once in college. I left it in my boyfriend’s dorm and one of his unsuspecting housemates wanted to see what color lipstick I wore. Long story short, we had trouble making eye contact with each other for a while.

Note: I read enough (read: so many) reviews every week to know it’s the little things that really make a review, add that little something extra and it will make your review stand out, and that’s how this one is. What really tipped me over the edge was the corny joke embedded in the image captions and a link to the Top 10 Pirate Pick-up Lines. You know you want to go look.

I’m hanging out at DB’s karate school and exchanging direct messages over Twitter with a friend to pass the time

She says “I want a nice ass pic”

I reply “An ass pic? You got it!”

Whether it’s a nice ass or not is a matter of opinion….

She sent me a pic in return. Click the pic to see the effect it had on me…

I wonder if any of the moms who were there had any idea what I was up to in the men’s room?

Click the button below to see who else is feeling a little Wanton this Wednesday ;-)

On our way from upstate NY to my moms in the Pittsburgh area, we had to stop by Penn State University’s Berkey Creamery.

The food science program was good enough for Ben and Jerry, yes THAT Ben and Jerry, when they wanted to learn how to make ice cream, so how bad could it be?  Pretty damn good, actually!

For an extra $5, not only do you get the neat thermal bag, they even fill it with enough dry ice for the trip!
We got 2 pints of Peachy Paterno (really!) for my step-dad and 1/2 gallon of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough for the rest of us.

September 29, 1990, a Saturday night party in the basement apartment of this fine example of student housing, Veronica and I met.  We’ve literally been together as a couple ever since.  It was fun going back there and showing the kids around town and bringing them inside a few of the buildings where we spent the bulk of a our time as students.

Remember my Radio Days post from a month or so ago?  You know the one, Veronica joins me in the student radio station while I’m producing a remote broadcast of a football game and we decide to fuck in the record library?

Unfortunately the station no longer exists, but when it did the middle window on the 2nd floor was the broadcast studio and the window to the right of that was the record library.  Ahh memories :-)

I love that there are so many actual game items to be found here, but still, seeing some of them amazed me.  Here are about 10 of Hank Aaron’s home run balls, spanning career home runs 700-720, including the one he hit to tie Babe Ruth’s record!

Of course, no visit would be complete without some serious time spent in the Hall of Fame Plaque Gallery.  Here are the first 5 inductees, from the Class of ’36, Babe Ruth, Christy Mathewson, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, and Walter Johnson.

Some items in the Hall of Fame are more whimsical than others, such as this handsome creature!  Click it for an explanation.  This display lead to random outbursts of “Holy Cow!” from Princess Persistent for the rest of the day!

Monday Veronica and I will be taking a trip down memory lane, as we drag the kids to the college town where she and I met almost 20 yrs ago.  We haven’t been back there since we passed thru on our way to friends wedding in 1997, so I’m really looking forward to it!

To all my fellow dads, I hope you have a Happy Father’s Day!

Apparently Veronica managed to find a few nice things to say about me, go visit her blog if you’re interested…

We’re heading off on a family vacation early Sunday morning, returning Friday night.  Today we’ll be visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, then we’re off to visit our undergraduate school, where we meet almost 20 yrs ago and haven’t been back to in 13 yrs.  We fully intend in making the kids sick with all of our reminiscing!  After that we’ll continue west to the Pittsburgh area, where we’ll spend several days with my mom and step-dad before returning home.

Father’s Day seems like as good a time as any to re-publish one of my favorite pics of me and the kids, from last summer…

Saturday evening Princess Persistent had her first dance recital. I was really impressed, not only with her group, but will all of the dance students, from the 3 yr olds all the way up to the high school age dancers.  Some of them are really good!

Unfortunately, between the distance between our seats and the stage, the lighting conditions and the strict “no flash photography” rule, I could not for the life of me get a good picture.  This was the best I could do :-/

Okay, admit it, how many of you saw the title and thought about a vibrator? ;-)

DB has needed a haircut for a little while and Friday he decided that he would like me to give me a buzz cut.  We joked around about giving him a mohawk or a reverse mohawk.  (Lilly, you weren’t the only one who had that idea!).  I ended up buzzing the front of his head and leaving the back alone for starters…

Look, now his back looks like his grandfathers! Hahahha

Time to vacuum!

On a completely un-related note, where the fuck did my custom header go? The other day I upgraded the version of WordPress I’m using and know the picture I was using is gone!  Grr…….

Some people have the habit of blaming others.  Perhaps all of us have this weakness.  The list of scapegoats for our miseries is clever and endless.  Parents, community, teachers, government, and even demons and gods are all invoked when we have problems.  If difficulties truly come from the outside, the problem is not blame.  For those cases, the course of action is very clear: Neutralize that influence. If the problem comes from within, the solution must come from within as well.  Before you blame friends, relatives, or teachers for bad habits and shortsightedness, you should remember that no one is to blame but yourself.

It is an equal mistake to lose self-esteem simply because you have some flaws.  Looking at your shortcomings and taking steps to eliminate them should be viewed as a dispassionate project.  You are not worthless because you undertake to rise above your faults.  That description is only for those who never attempt to perfect themselves.  We all have a perfect core, a special self inside.  That purity is perfect and holy; therefore no one is worse than another.

We are all on this planet simply to reach back into that pure self. When we reach that spirit, there are no flaws and there is no blame.

With apologies to Shel Silverstein….

I hope the ends of the sidewalk meet up again when the contractors are done!
