What book?

Sadie’s book,  Open All The Way, of course!

Many of us in the “sex-blogger” and HNT realms of the blogosphere are of course familiar with Sadie and her blog, Sexy Sadie’s Stories of Seduction: Confessions From My Open Marriage. Considering that I’m the 14th or so stop on her virtual book tour, you almost might know that she’s written a book and self-published it as an e-book.  Her book isn’t just a retelling of confessions that she’s already shared on her incredibly well-written and thoughtful blog, the e-book is the prologue to the blog.

Just how open Sadie approaches her life (and lifestyle) is captured in this chapter, the only chapter than overlaps with her blogging, which talks about how she shared not only her lifestyle but her blog with her mother.

Thankfully my mom waited a while before she worked up the courage to do an Internet search for “Sadie blog, Open Marriage.” She found it easily and read every page, skimming over the more colorful parts, yet still managing to glean insight as to what I’d been up to in my not-so-private life. And although some of what she read distressed her, due mostly to concerns for my safety, she was able to see past the brashness of some of my posts and see me in the shadows of my words. And she did not judge.

She reminded me that she was from a different generation: the era of sex as a closed-door activity. Where she hailed from, sex wasn’t something that was spoken about publicly, nor was it used as a means of self-expression. And as far as she knew, sex itself had no relevance to a particular lifestyle—one that people might enjoy reading about in a public forum. But I was pleased that my mother was able to see the me that I ached to present to her; the me who had carved out her own little place in cyberspace, the me who had much to say on the subject of sex and all its variances, the me who she could now recognize as consequential and capable and even sometimes entertaining.

The value in that was absolutely immeasurable.

And since then I have discovered that, even though my mother might not always approve of what I do or how I do it, she doesn’t judge me for my choices. She understands that they are mine to make. Besides, above all else, she is happy that I am writing

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Sadie in person twice, in Texas last summer and again in the fall at the 2011 NYC Sex Blogger Calendar release party (she’s Ms November). A piece of Sadie trivia, that she may not even remember- almost 2 yrs ago, when Veronica and I were thinking about starting a semi-regular open relationship advice column, she’s the one who suggested “Swing Shift” when we were looking for a title for the column. She’s one of the diminishing group of people I’ve known ever since I’ve been blogging, I think our respective original blogs were started around the same time. Even if I hadn’t known her for that long, and have a soft spot in my heart for her (and a hard on in my pants :-) ) I’d still tell you,

GO OUT AND BUY HER BOOK!!

Customer: Hi. I’m a professional photographer but I don’t understand why are my pictures green, and then sometimes blue.
Salesperson: Do you have a certain mode enabled? Maybe a colour swap feature has been accidentally turned on, try resetting the camera back to the original factory settings.
Customer: No, no. I know about that — I’ve been published before with some of the pictures I’ve taken… I know what I’m doing.
Salesperson: So reseting the camera didn’t work?
Customer: No.
Salesperson: …do you know about white balance?
Customer: No.

If you don’t understand that conversation, check out Day 112 of my Project365 and compare it to the picture below, which was taken using the wrong white balance setting. I don’t really have a blue ceiling in my living room :-)

Where We Are - It was only supposed to be about the fucking. I don’t know how I convinced myself that it could be. I fretted before we began, about how I could ever possibly separate sex from emotion.

The Edible Slut - His hand made an audible crack as it connected with her ass, loud in the dim bedroom. Did he really sink his hand into her hair, turn her head to face him, and shout, ìStop being such a brat!î

Beyond BisexualI don’t identify as bisexual, because I am interested in so many more people than just two of the variety of sexes or genders out there. Except, that is a word that a lot of people understand.

Day 107 Digging – I’m not sure if I’ve taken photos of it before, but last fall a section of the fence fell over, the post wasn’t set deep enough in fairly lose dirt so when there were some high winds, that was the end of it. Not long after winter arrived with a vengeance so I decided to wait until spring. DB was eager to help and for a change actually WAS useful! Here he is doing his best to unearth a rock that was keeping us from digging the post hole deep enough.

Day 108 Nap Time – something wore Princess Persistent out, 3:30 in the afternoon and she was sound asleep on the couch!

Day 109 Preparation – 6:20am, somewhere along the Boston Marathon route, in just a few hours 25,000+ runners would pass by here on their way to the finish line

Day 110 What is it about Tuesdays? This makes 2 weeks in a row that I forgot to take a photo on Tuesday!

Day 111 Snow Pile – Yes, this late in spring and there is still a 2-story tall snow pile in a remote parking lot of a local mall. Any bets for how long until it’s completely gone?

Day 112 Mask – DB spent the week in camp run by the school district, at the high school, since it was spring break.  Thursday he came home with this mask and he insisted I take a picture of it for my picture of the day.

Day 113 Carpet Destruction – Our dog is lucky to be alive, 12 years old and she’s still randomly wrecking things. This time it was the downstairs carpet, I can only guess that a stray thread caught her interest and she didn’t stop until she managed to unravel several feet of carpet along the seam where 2 sections come together. Oh yeah, it cost $2000 to replace this carpet 2 1/2 yrs ago when our water heater burst :-(

Day 114 Meatballs – Veronica made meatballs from scratch on Saturday, she browned them in the pan before putting them in the crockpot to simmer in the homemade sauce. I said something on Twitter, put no one took us up on the offer to join us for dinner

Day 115 Hammock – FINALLY, a day that felt like spring, so I set up the hammock and spent a little while enjoy a gentle breeze while gazing at the sky :-)

From NPR, the sad beautiful fact that we’re going to miss almost everything

The vast majority of the world’s books, music, films, television and art, you will never see. It’s just numbers.

Consider books alone. Let’s say you read two a week, and sometimes you take on a long one that takes you a whole week. That’s quite a brisk pace for the average person. That lets you finish, let’s say, 100 books a year. If we assume you start now, and you’re 15, and you are willing to continue at this pace until you’re 80. That’s 6,500 books, which really sounds like a lot.

If “well-read” means “not missing anything,” then nobody has a chance. If “well-read” means “making a genuine effort to explore thoughtfully,” then yes, we can all be well-read. But what we’ve seen is always going to be a very small cup dipped out of a very big ocean, and turning your back on the ocean to stare into the cup can’t change that.

If attempting to be well-read, or at least knowledgeable about the world’s events, seems to be too much sometimes, maybe this approach might suit you better (follow the link for an 11 page PDF on the idea):

Go without news. Cut it out completely. Go cold turkey. Make news as inaccessible as possible . . . . After a while, you will realize that despite your personal news blackout, you have not missed – and you’re not going to miss – any important facts. If some bit of information is truly important to your profession, your company, your family or your community, you will hear it in time – from your friends, your mother-in-law or whomever you talk to or see. When you are with your friends, ask them if anything important is happening in the world. The question is a great conversation starter. Most of the time, the answer will be: “not really.”

I sometimes wonder, would my life at the end of the day be much different if I ignored the newspaper, left my RSS reader alone, didn’t read any tweets, and just focused on the world around me. I might have to try that approach every once in a while.

The conversation started innocently enough. Darling Boy was riding with me to work, it was Bring Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day, and I had a sports talk radio station on. They were talking about an incident w/ Andrew Ference of the Boston Bruins where he flipped the bird to the fans in Montreal a few days ago. The announcers were using a variety of euphemisms, which lead DB to wonder

“Hey dad, what’s so bad at showing someone your middle finger”

“Do you know the meaning behind doing that?”

“I think so, but I’m not sure now”

“Well tell me, what do you think? It’s okay, you can use the words you think it means”

“Is it something with the F-word”

“Yes, it is. So if I do this (I give DB the finger) that’s the same as saying fuck you”

“Oh, okay. I guess I shouldn’t do that then”

“Not if you know what’s good for you, little man!” Said with a smile, of course…

I like that we can chat like that. He was a little embarrassed about using “grown-up” words with me, which I suppose is a good thing, but he also knows that it’s okay to ask me questions. Hopefully our relationship will stay that way as he gets older.

Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate!

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it’s yours to keep for the entire period.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, “life.”

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The “failed” experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately “work.”

4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There’s no part of life that doesn’t contain its lessons. If you’re alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.

6. “There” is no better a place than “here.” When your “there” has become a “here”, you will simply obtain another “there” that will again look better than “here.”

7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life’s questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

10. You will forget all this.

“Wow, I’ve never seen myself that way before”

Katie was over for a morning of fun and was leisurely riding me. She sat straight up and looked down so that she could see my cock sliding in and out of her pussy.

“You mean to tell me that you’ve never watched a man’s cock penetrate you before? Go nice and slow, I want to describe to you what I like so much about the view. Take me all the way inside then slowly raise yourself up off of me. See how your labia look like they’re trying to hold onto me, stretching out a bit as I withdraw from you? Now lower yourself back down again, slowly. See how they slide up almost inside you?  If you can, ride me faster and keep watching”

Katie has generously large labia, the first time we were together I said something about how beautiful her pussy is and she replied that she doesn’t liked how it looks, that she thought her labia are too big.

“Wow, I really like the view! I think I’m going to keep watching, I can’t believe I never did this before”

“I think maybe I’ll grab my phone and take a few pictures, if you’d like. This view is also a big part of what I like about fucking you from behind”

“How about when we have anal, is the view part of the appeal?”

“That’s a discussion for another time. Now get on your knees…”

==================================================

On a serious note, I was really happy to be able to show Katie how part of her looks, a part that she wasn’t entirely comfortable with, was actually something that really turns me on. I think it’s a shame when women talk about parts of their bodies that they don’t like and are afraid that a guy won’t like it either.

Veronica has smaller labia, there isn’t the same visual effect when she’s riding me.

Does that mean I like Katie’s pussy better than Veronica? Of course not!

It’s different, but different doesn’t mean better. That’s part of the pleasure of multiple partners, enjoying women in all of their wonderful variety :-)

Somehow it manages to make it’s way around the country and even points beyond

It’s so famous it has it’s own blog

It’s the OsShirt, last summer Veronica and I got to wear it, you might recall this post or this post

And because I’m such a nice guy, here’s an outtake of Veronica modeling the OsShirt :-)

The boss of a Madison Avenue advertising agency called a spontaneous staff meeting in the middle of a particularly stressful week. (This is one pretty sharp boss!) When everyone gathered, the boss, who understood the benefits of having fun, told the burnt out staff the purpose of the meeting was to have a quick contest. The theme: Viagra advertising slogans.

The only rule was they had to use past ad slogans, originally written for other products that captured the essence of Viagra. Slight variations were acceptable.

About 7 minutes later, they turned in their suggestions and created a Top 10 List. With all the laughter and camaraderie, the rest of the week went very well for everyone!

The top 10 were:

10. Viagra, Whaazzzz up!

9. Viagra, The quicker pecker picker upper.

8. Viagra, like a rock !

7. Viagra, When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.

6 Viagra, Be all that you can be.

5. Viagra, Reach out and touch someone.

4. Viagra, Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.

3. Viagra, Home of the whopper!

2. Viagra, We bring good things to Life!

And the unanimous number one slogan:

1. This is your peepee. This is your peepee on drugs.
