The first line of the first post of each month for 2011

January – “It was ridiculously nice out, with temps in the mid-40s I had to grab my camera and head to a local state park in search of photo opportunities.” From Day 1/365  – Walk in the Park, which happens to contain links to some naughtier content :-)

February – “Monday morning I awoke bright and early, earlier than my usual time, so I headed into work early” from Day 32/365 Early Morning

March – “Okay I know that’s stating the obvious to many of us, but this post just reaffirms it for me.Dan Savage is a genius

April – “Day 86 Her New Thong – Isn’t it nice? Of course, there is a matching bra, maybe you’ll see that somedayProject 365 Days 86-92 Featuring Veronica. For a little while I experimented with just 1 photo post per week, this particular week contained several photos of my lovely wife. Ultimately the once-per-week photo post strategy didn’t work for me and I returned to daily posting of photos.

May – “Absent motivation (and time) to write a real blog post, you get a brain-dump instead…” from one of many Apropos of Nothing posts I’ve written over the year. It’s interesting reading that one in particular and the stuff about the temp job assignment I had and my relationship with Katie at the time.

June – “I bought these last summer in Texas, it’s nice that’s finally warm enough to wear them on a regular basis againDay 150 Teva. Me relaxing on the hammock, a frequent sight if you follow me on Twitter and look at the photos I post on my Mobypicture account!

July – “Apparently a number of you were wondering just how I managed to take this weeks Wanton Wednesday photo. The Secret Revealed and an Outtake

August – “A woman I follow on Twitter posted something a few days ago asking about condoms and size.Swing Shift Volume 46 – Condoms and Size. We’ve only written one more Swing Shift since then, we should resume that series, those were fun to write.

September – “Thursday night we’re taking the kids and going to the Patriots-Giants preseason football game at Gillette Stadium.Day 244 – Now THAT’s a lens! I rented a $2400 lens for a week, it was kinda big!

October – “Things That Are Difficult to Say When Drunk:” When You’re Drunk, a tongue-in-cheek post and a comic at the end.

November -”1. What sexual act arouses you the most? For that matter, what nonsexual act arouses you the most?TMI Tuesday – Let’s Talk About Sex. TMI Tuesday was re-born this past year (some people may remember the old version hosted by Vixen and Professor Fate (I think!)) and I started regularly participating again.

December – “I found this on PetaPixel, “The Beauty of a Second” is a competition where people submit videos of what they perceive as “beauty”, but with a catch- each video clip can only be 1 second long. One Second of Beauty, an inspiring collection of clips that I couldn’t resist sharing.

What will 2012 bring? Come back tomorrow and see! Veronica and I are heading to a swingers party tonight, I’m pretty sure we’ll have something fun to share :-)

Of my 2nd Project365!

And what better way than to share a photo of Veronica’s rear end? :-)

I know of at least 2 people, Molly of Molly’s Daily Kiss and The Bare Naked Lady Jill Boyd, who are thinking about trying a Project365 in 2012. I’m a day away from completing my second year (minus about 40-50 days I skipped), and I’ve learned a few things along with way about staying motivated, so I thought I’d share some of those lessons. In no particular order

- Get in the habit of bringing your camera with you EVERYWHERE you go. You can’t take a photograph if you don’t have your camera.

- Look around. There are opportunities for photographs literally everywhere. You’ve already got your camera with you, use it!

- Make it a habit. Find a schedule to edit and post that works for you. I view and edit my photos in the evening once the kids are in bed and typically schedule photo posts to publish at 12:01am. Some people have tried taking a photo a day and then putting 7 days worth of photos into a single post. If that works for you, great.

- Challenge yourself. Try a theme for a week, try a manual mode, anything that may challenge your technical or artistic capabilities.

- Don’t be afraid of taking bad pictures. The photo today of my mom’s dog? That’s one of about a dozen I took until I got something I really liked. Some days I get what I wanted on the first shot, some days I’m combing through dozens looking for a great (for me) shot to share.

- Have fun! My first Project365 I didn’t miss a single day, in order to do that some days it became more of a chore. For the second year, I cut myself some slack once in a while. Whether it was due to travel, lack of motivation or I needed a break from my computer, if I felt like skipping a day or two I did. Then just pick up where you left off.

- Read photography blogs for inspiration. I love Digital Photography School, PetaPixel and Scott Kelby’s Photoshop Insider. DPS has a weekly photography challenge, it could be a word or an idea, the goal is to interpret it as you see fit with a photograph, and the challenge can often help you challenge yourself or break out of a rut.

Any other suggestions, dear readers? Emmy, Dana, anyone else who has completed one? Feel free to use the comments section to share your words of wisdom!

Looking for something else in my blog archives, I found a similar post that I wrote just about a year ago, it has a number of links to other resources around the web.

Actually, he’s a hairball, since he’s a Shih Tzu and has hair, not fur.

My mom has been here since Sunday and she was at my sisters for a week before that, so she brought her pup along for the road trip, rather than leave him at the kennel. He’s a great little guy, gets along well with our dog and the kids love playing with him.

It’s with mixed emotions that I see that Osbasso is ending the “official” HNT, today is the last day.  HNT marked my entry into blogging, I actually contributed to The Other HNT before I even had a blog (here I am, July 24, 2008, 6 weeks before the original Hubman’s Hangout, blogspot version, was launched.) My photography hobby is a direct result of my desire to improve the quality of the HNT photos I took of Veronica and myself, for the joy I get out of photography, I’m thankful.

Veronica loved participating, as a late-30s mom of two, she appreciated the supportive encouraging comments and the self-esteem boost that resulted.

My blogging “community” at the start centered around HNT, many fellow HNTers became friends, virtually or in real life. Veronica met Osbasso twice, I met him once, and we’ve both worn the “OsShirt”.  I even ended up sleeping with several fellow HNTers along the way. Shocking, I know ;-)

It’s sad to see the community fall apart. People seemed to take sides, there was Osbasso with HNT and Dangerous Lilly with Wanton Wednesday, which she created as a direct result of some highly judgmental comments Os made about “sex bloggers”. There was a perception that there was a “right” and a “wrong” way to do HNT and a fractured community resulted.

As for the question mark in the title of this post, and this being the end of HNT, just because Osbasso is calling it quits doesn’t mean that HNT is going to disappear. There are people who post or tweet HNT photos who have never heard of him and will continue on, oblivious to “the end”. There are likely others who will continue, even though there won’t be a place to announce “I’m up.” Perhaps Wanton Wednesday and Sinful Sunday will see more people joining in the fun. Who knows…

I’ve already said more than I intended, time for me to bite my tongue.

Happy HNT

Tuesday it was me getting clean, as you could see in my Wanton Wednesday post. On Wednesday it was my office at work- filing papers, throwing out old crap, dusting the shelves and desktop.  Hell I even cleaned out my inbox, look at that screen, there’s only 4 messages in it now.

I don’t know about me, but my office is ready for 2012!

I turned on the Christmas tree lights, and nothing else, as the sun was setting. I was home alone and just sat there on the couch, relishing in the tranquil silence. I liked the glow from the tree, so of course I decided to take a photo of it! (for Christmas day the dining room table was moved aside…)

Gifts, that is!

For this week’s TMI Tuesday why don’t you tell us:

1. What was your favorite gift that you received (gift giving holidays Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or heck even if you had a birthday in the month of December that can count)?

The stuff from my mom was pretty cool, I also like the National Geographic photography book that I got.

2. What was the most practical gift that you received?

I got a pair of LL Bean flannel-lined denim jeans, super comfy AND warm, perfect for New England winters!

3. What was the silliest, most fun, crazy or impractical gift that you received?

Veronica got me a gift certificate to a men’s salon called “Knockouts”, apparently all of the women who work there are supposed to be pretty good looking. I see a little pampering in my future!

Naughty Santa brought me a nude photography book and a leather cock ring :-)

4. If you had a special holiday meal, what was your favorite food?

Veronica made a big pan of lasagna, it was delicious!

Bonus:  Share the recipe of your favorite food from the holiday meal.

She also made her famous egg nog poundcake, she posted the recipe on her blog last week.

Bonus, bonus:  Whatcha doin’ for New Year’s Eve?

My mom is visiting all week, she’s not leaving until New Years Day. That means we have a free overnight sitter for New Years Eve, which means we’ve got a hotel room reserved and have RSVPd to a big ole swingers party :-)

How to play TMI Tuesday: Copy the above TMI Tuesday questions to your blog, answer the questions there, then leave a comment on the tmituesdayblog so we’ll all know where to read your responses!

Happy TMI Tuesday!

My drinking habits, that is. And it’s my mother who’s doing it!

Her Christmas present to me? A book full of recipes for all sorts of variations of margaritas, mojitos and other drinks :-)

Of course, what good is a margarita recipe book without margarita glasses?  She got me a set of 4 of those too. Since we needed an excuse to break them in, Veronica made enchiladas on Monday evening and I made the margaritas (yes, I need to go easier on the salt next time!)
