Some days, you have to say “fuck it” to the diet and indulge in some comfort food.
Monday was one of those days!

But if anyone gives me grief, I’m blaming Veronica,
it was all her idea and she made me eat the ice cream ;-)

After mowing the lawn, I got out my camera and macro lens, I wanted to find something in the lawn for a Macro Monday post. What did I see? This stray blade of grass that somehow escaped the mower blade. And yes, I pulled it out after I took the photo!

After Veronica and I did all that we could as far as finding a place to live, we decided to head down to DC for some sight-seeing and a baseball game. (A housing update post will have to wait, we don’t want to jinx ourselves by writing about it just yet.)

How about sight-seeing *from* the ball game? Look in the lower left corner, we could see the Washington Monument from our seats in Nationals Park.

Walking back to Union Station to catch a MARC train back up to Baltimore, we passed the Capital Building. I had to wait for traffic to clear so I could stand in the middle of the street to get this photo. If you click to view the full-sized image, there’s a little motion blur, that’s what happens when you shoot handheld and use a 1/4 sec exposure time.  Oh well…

Dammit, I HATE when I forget to check my camera settings! I looked at the shooting data to add the caption and realized I TOTALLY forgot that I add changed the f-stop to 8.0 earlier in the day. I could have opened the aperture much wider, used a faster shutter speed and gotten a nice sharp image after all.

I bet some of my BDSM-inclined friends thought of something besides my hammock when they saw the title of this post :-)

I think this is the first photo published that I shot with my new-to-me Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF lens, aka the nifty-fifty.  I like this lens, a lot :-)

As if Veronica and I don’t want to see Italy bad enough, I came across this awesome morning-to-night timelapse video of Venice!

(If you’re wondering why a lot of it looks almost fake or model-like, I bet the photographer used a tilt-shift lens for many of the images)

You know when it’s real easy to get a close-up photo of one of these little buggers?

When they land in the paint tray you left outside to dry and can’t fly away!

I think I’ve mentioned that for the past several weeks we’ve been dog-sitting for my mom while she’s on vacation in Italy (must be nice!).  He’s a cute little pup and full of energy, he loves to sprint around the yard for what appears to be no reason at all except that it’s fun. Hmm, might be a lesson there for us people…

Wrap ice packs around knees, elevate, sit back and relax for 15 minutes. Repeat daily

I’ll admit it, sometimes I take photos of items at or from work in such a way so that you’re left wondering about my research
