Yesterday I playfully suggested that any friends who would like to send photos of their boobs for my birthday were welcome to do so. Because my friends are awesome, more than a few did just that, and I appreciate every last photo that landed in my inbox.

However, like other aspects of my open marriage and sharing ourselves with others, at the end of the day Veronica is still my favorite.

Including her fabulous breasts :-)

Another year older, no less mature…..

Ladies, feel free to send your photos to hubman38 at gmail dot com :-)

==================================

For my 21st birthday, Veronica took me to a favorite restaurant.  This was in the small upstate NY town where we went to college, and this particular restaurant was notorious for strictly enforcing the drinking age and not falling for fake IDs (like mine!).  It wasn’t the place to go if you were underage and wanted a drink.  Nonetheless, the food was really good and we went there once in a while.

Of course I was going to order a beer with my birthday dinner. What happens? The waitress didn’t ask for my ID!!  When she returned with my drink, Veronica pointed out to her that it was my 21st birthday and that I was disappointed that she didn’t ask for my ID.

Now that I’m 42, that was half a lifetime ago. Damn, I’m getting old!

Today is Veronica’s birthday, the big 4-0. Several weeks ago, I managed to arrange for her mother to come watch the kids last night so that I could take her away. Little did my mother-in-law know that I also arranged for a friend of our to join us for the night.

Veronica tweeted something earlier today about first pussy and then bacon for breakfast. I’d say that’s a pretty good way to start the day on your 40th birthday, wouldn’t you?

The tiara? That was from one of Veronica’s co-workers, she couldn’t resist wearing it for a bit when I got the camera out :-)

I took about 25 photos in all, but this is the only one you get to see, but let me assure you, they were hot!

Her request to take a week of vacation time was approved.
Grandparents were all set to watch the kids for the week.
She bought a plane ticket.

We were all set for Veronica to join me for a week in Denver while I was there for a conference.

And then barely after those arrangements were set we found out that I would be going to Stuttgart and Paris for a week. [Stories and pics from that trip are here, here, here, here and here.] Veronica’s ticket to Denver was non-refundable and with all of the other arrangements we had in place, it just wasn’t feasible for her to join me overseas for a week.

Once I returned and she saw my photos and heard my stories, she lamented that she wasn’t able to join me. I could tell just how disappointed she was, she had never been overseas and had long dreamed of visiting Paris someday.

Just go, I told her.

Her 40th birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, we decided that she should go, have that crazy (for her) solo adventure that she’s always dreamed of. The long Columbus Day weekend seemed like a good time and she has the vacation time saved up, so why not?

As I’m writing this on Wednesday evening, she is somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean. If I make it up to midnight I’ll be awake for her text message letting me know she landed in Paris. She’s going to be there for 4 full days, we’ll get her back on Monday afternoon.

The kids and I will certainly miss her, but I KNOW that she’s going to have the time of her life and I’m more than happy to play Mr Mom while she’s exploring The City of Light.

She added an international data option to her phone plan, so expect her to post updates and photos on Twitter while she’s there. You can follow her here.

I can’t decide what bugs me more about this photo, not the photo itself, but what’s shown.

Sunday was Darling Boy’s birthday. As it approached grandparents asked about gift ideas and we provided some suggestions. In the past my mother and I have talked about how DB is not the Lego fanatic that I was as a kid and that he’s just not into them.

Not only does she disregard our suggestions, she gets him something we’ve talked about that he wouldn’t necessarily enjoy.
Not only does she get a Lego set, she spends $100+ on one. Getting something smaller/simpler just wouldn’t do for her grandson!

Veronica: We were getting DB a laptop and I had asked all the grandparents to chip in.  The MIL asked about sending “something small to open”, so I suggested a SMALL Lego Star Wars Thing.  I was thinking of one of those Lego robots that sell for less than $10.  Someone did not listen to me, sigh.

Here we are, 4 days after DBs birthday, and the set is still sitting unopened on the living room floor. The other day I asked him if he wanted to build the set with me. “Nah, I’m not interested right now”

We’re going to give it another week, if it’s still unopened Veronica and I will return it (my mom at least had the common sense to include a gift receipt). Guaranteed, if it comes to that all of sudden it will be the best gift DB ever received and he’ll be heartbroken that we’re returning it.  Never mind the angst that my mother will give us…

Day 86 Her New Thong – Isn’t it nice? Of course, there is a matching bra, maybe you’ll see that someday

Day 87 Hands – She cooks AND does the dishes afterwards!

Day 88 Portrait – She didn’t used to like me taking pictures of her face, but she’s getting better about it. It helps that I can be stealthy with my camera and get some nice candid shots. She is out of focus on purpose, I didn’t become a crappy photographer all of a sudden!

Day 89 Princess Persistent – It was her birthday, click here to see the photo I took of her

Day 90 Nice Tits – Don’t you agree? :-)

Day 91 More Hands – Tweeting from her iPhone

Day 92 Snow? – I commented on Twitter something to the effect of what “Ok Mother Nature we get it, April Fools, hahaha. Fuck you.” At least it’s supposed to warm up this weekend and it should all melt!

[No technical data for the photos this week, I couldn't be bothered to take the time to add a comment to every photo with the information]

A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart ~Author Unknown

The way Veronica and I debated back and forth over whether to have a second child or not, in retrospect, was seemingly endless. We had already decided to wait several years after DB was born, since I started a full-time Ph.D. program when he was 3 years old. Before I even knew where I would be going to school Veronica and I had already decided that there was no way we could handle having an infant in the house while I was taking a full-time course load, but once my comprehensive exam was behind me it would be a different story. As my 3rd year and that comprehensive exam was approaching, we finally decided that yes, we did want a second child.

We had fun announcing Veronica’s pregnancy to the family. They were all gathered at our house for DB’s 5th birthday and we coached him to make an announced for us. We got everyone’s attention and right on cue DB declared “there’s a baby in mommy’s tummy.”  And there was much rejoicing :-)

A month or so later I told my mentor that Veronica was pregnant and that I was really hoping to have my comprehensive exam completed before the baby arrived. He asked what her due date was and after I told him, he paused for a moment then said “yeah, I don’t see any problem with that.”  Thank goodness!

Five years ago today Veronica woke up and said “I think it’s time!” and several hours later our wonderful little girl was born. As with DB our life hasn’t been the same since, and I couldn’t be happier.

Happy Birthday Princess Persistent!

Today is Veronica’s birthday!

18  years ago, I gave her a mug for her birthday.  Yesterday she accidentally dropped that mug, now it looks like this :-(

I know what you’re thinking, a mug for her birthday, how lame!  And what’s with the saying?

There’s a funny story here, a story about Hubman trying to be clever, but his youthful ignorance getting the best of him…

In the fall of 1992 Veronica and I were living together and finishing up our undergraduate degrees.  I knew that she was “the one” and started shopping for engagement rings.  She had dropped some hints and being a dutiful boyfriend, I listened, so it didn’t take me long to find something.  Then, I decided to get clever and bought the mug you see above.  My plan was to put the ring inside the mug and then wrap it.  She would open her birthday present, there would be the anticipated disappointed reaction, then she’d see the ring and I’d propose to her.

Nice plan, right?

Except for one minor detail.  Rings aren’t one-size-fits-all, are they?  I knew Veronica’s ring size, but I didn’t plan on the week or so it would take for them to re-size the ring and get back to pick it up in time for her birthday.

Her birthday comes, I don’t have the ring yet.  But she’s expecting something, it is her 21st birthday after all, so I just give her the mug.  And there was the anticipated disappointed reaction.  Fortunately a few days later I had the ring, she said yes and forgave me for the crappy birthday present.

The funny thing is, she was actually a little upset when she accidentally broke this silly mug yesterday!
