That’s what I smelled like after Veronica gave me a back rub,
using the lotion from Bath and Body Works :-)

Veronica has a conference in Boston on Friday and Saturday, with numerous evening social opportunities. Instead of driving the 35 miles back and forth each day, we figured she could spend the night and enjoy a little getaway while I took care of the kids.

I tucked PP into bed and offered to read her a story. “Dad, I can read a book to myself!”

Well okay then, I’ll just take a photo to show mom when she returns on Saturday afternoon

Pine needles, that is!
(I know, some of my pervier friends thought of something different!)

This is what remains after the tree was set up for 3 weeks and then a ton of needles were knocked off when the ornaments and lights were removed. It doesn’t help that Princess Persistent was “helping” Veronica.

It’s the little things the cleaners do that makes Veronica happy.

Me? I’d prefer if they would at least put the furniture back in the right spot after they moved it to vacuum. Couch, loveseat, coffee table, dining room table, there are little depressions in the carpet indicating where they belong. Is it really that difficult?

I know, I know, at least we can afford to have a cleaning service come in once a month. I’ll shut up now…

During my pressure-washing binge on Saturday, I accidentally blasted a small ceramic pot off the back deck, sending it crashing to the ground below and breaking into pieces.

Later in the day Princess Persistent appeared holding a small dish. In the dish was every little piece of the broken pot. She was sad that the pot that SHE painted was broken, so she gathered up all of the pieces so that daddy could make it all better.

Darling Boy is such a good big brother, reading stories to his sister before lights out

Whenever Veronica has to work in the evening, the kids and I discuss what I should make for dinner. The most popular choice is “the daddy special”, also known as hot dogs and mac & cheese.

Though I’ll have you know, this isn’t any old mac & cheese, this is Kraft Homestyle mac & cheese. Because I’m good to my kids that way :-)

The fifth basic food group!

Right? :-)

Darling Boy was working on a book report, Princess Persistent decided to do some coloring, and the dining room table predictably became a crayon and marker covered mess.

[Veronica messed up my shot, just as I had it framed how I wanted, she called PP for her bath, which is why she's walking away from the table]

I can’t even be mad at the dog for this mess!

Saturday I bought a 40lb bag of dog food and left it in the garage, which is where the dog stays when we’re out for more than a couple of hours. It’s probably not necessary to tell you that I forgot about the bag of food when we all left the house on Monday morning.

Darling Boy is responsible for feeding the dog, I told him not to bother Monday evening, that I was sure that she had plenty of food during the day!
