Begins with my alarm going off at 5:30, which is unusual enough, since I usually awake when Veronica’s alarm goes off at 5:45. But this is no ordinary day, not by a long shot.

I tell Veronica to stay in bed a little longer, I need to get moving today. I head off to shower and shave, making sure to pay extra attention to the man-bits.

Get dressed in comfortable clothes, finishing packing my bag, grab some breakfast, then it’s time to kiss Veronica and the kids goodbye. Making sure to leave myself plenty of time, I head to the airport, there’s a 9:30 flight to catch. Circling around the central parking garage I find a space, get my bag out of the truck, but leave my jacket behind. I won’t need a heavy winter coat where I’m going.

The usual airport hassles await, security screening, lines, random bag checks. I settle into my seat and say a silent thanks to whoever came up with the idea of DirecTV at every seat. Between that and my iPod I’ll be all set for the flight.

A few hours later, I land and work my way to the baggage claim area.

And I meet my companions for the next day and a half.

I can’t tell you any more about this day.

Because this day is today and I don’t know how it will unfold.
