Last Saturday morning I left for a work trip in Maryland and returned late last night, so my week in photos coincides perfectly with my week on the road! As always click on any photo to view full-sized in a new window

Day 79 Supermoon- I guess that’s what people were calling it, since it was closer to the Earth than it has been in years. I guess it did look bigger in the sky, but you can’t really tell from the photo.

105mm macro lens, 1/125 sec at f/11, ISO 100

Day 80 Statue- there was some Civil War battlefield near my hotel so I got out and wandered around shooting for a bit, trying to find something more interesting than “hey look, a statue in a field.” When I moved so that the statue was in silhouette I had my shot!

105mm macro lens, 1/4000 sec at f/4.5, ISO 200

Day 81 Reece’s- Monday night I had the munchies, thank god for vending machines and Reece’s Peanut Butter cups!

105mm macro lens, 1/50 sec at f/3.0, ISO 1600

Day 82 Drip- Can you see me in the reflection? It’s a little distorted but I swear, that’s me! Tuesday night I decided to check out the hot tub at the hotel, this is my swimsuit hanging in the shower afterward.

105mm macro lens, 1/50 sec at f/3.2, ISO 400

Day 83 Adolescent Sense of Humor- my inner Beavis and Butthead definitely came out when I saw this road sign! I mentioned some Home Stress issues the other day, since we’ll be moving to this area in 2012 I took the opportunity to explore some neighborhoods, which is when I saw this sign.

18-105mm lens, 1/13 sec at f/5.3, ISO 800

Day 84 One Big-Ass Gun!- More driving around and finding random sights, I came across a military museum of some sort that had a display of all sorts of tanks and cannons out front, this one was the biggest of them all. I’ll admit that the perspective accentuates the view, I put my camera on the ground set the timer for 10 seconds and ran out into the field of view. Yes that’s me in the picture.

18-105mm lens, 1/80 sec at f/4.5, ISO 200

Day 85 Almost Home- Heading north on I-91 in Connecticut, if you can read the GPS screen you can see I’m getting there. Contrast the expecting arrival time with that in this photo I posted to Twitter before I hit the road- not too bad considering I stopped 3 times and had to pass through New York City!

Yes, I took the photo while doing 76 mph on the interstate…

Shortly after I moved from a hotel into proper long term lodging a month or so ago, I had a voicemail message letting me know that they took care of the mold problem.  This was news to me, since I had just moved in, and was likely in response to something from whoever lived here before me.  I didn’t think anything of it, until the other day and the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine hit the San Antonio area.

Apparently, there is still a problem, since this wet spot appeared on the carpet when Hermine hit. That can’t be good….

Today I’m off from “work” so this is how I plan on spending a good part of my day.

I’ll probably take a nap at some time.  Anyone care to join me? I’d be happy to make room for you :-)

That’s what I was when I tried to open a window in my room.  Because that’s what the window is, screwed shut!

I went out to dinner to a very nice wine bar and restaurant with some friends on Thursday night.
The food was soooo good, but I couldn’t finish it, so now I have lunch for Friday!

Walking back “home” Wednesday evening I took this picture.  Some days, the first picture is my favorite!

One of the inevitable consequences of being away for a couple of days….

Fortunately where I’m living has free laundry facilities on each floor, so it’s just a short walk down the hall from my room.  Beats what I had to deal with when I was in the hotel for the first few weeks I was here!

If anyone is wondering, I do my own laundry when I’m home as well, this isn’t just because I’m away from Veronica!

A room with an 8 1/2 foot ceiling
A tripod and remote shutter release for my camera
And a tall piece of furniture
Equals a unique vantage point

I e-mailed Veronica a couple of pictures from the archives, I wonder which one she’ll select.  Or maybe she’ll use both of them!

Happy HNT!!

Which is worse, the chair or the carpet?  To add insult to visual injury, the chair isn’t even that comfortable…

I don’t know how I missed it before, but I noticed this sticker inside a cabinet door in my living quarters yesterday.

Why would a cabinet be certified?  And why by ANSI aka the American National Standards Institute?  Odd…
