Happy New Year from TMI Tuesday blog. I’ve enjoyed discovering and reading so many new blogs via TMI Tuesday. Thanks to all the players that submitted questions, themes or ideas in 2011. If you have questions you’d like to see answered for TMI Tuesday, please read the ABOUT page. Now here we go…the first TMI Tuesday questions for 2012:

1. Finish this sentence: In the New Year, as good as last year was, I hope this one is even better!

2. Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? If yes, what are they for 2012?

I haven’t made any resolutions this year.  I’ve got a number of poorly defined goals in mind, but nothing concrete.  I suppose how poorly I did with resolutions last year (see question 4) is making me hesitate. I really should suck it up and publicly commit to achieving some goals this year…

3. What New Year’s resolutions did you make last year?

From Backwards and Forwards, published Jan 2, 2011:

- I’m going to publish a minimum of 3 peer-reviewed papers at work (the projects have been on-going, this won’t be as tough as it might sound)
- Those 10 lbs I gained? Goodbye!
- My best year riding was in 2006 when I rode 1875 miles.  This year? 2000 is my goal!
- Less time online, between work and home I spend too much time looking at computer screens.  I’ve already trimmed a number of blogs from my Google Reader subscriptions and have committed to less time on Twitter via my phone during the workday.  I enjoy the time I spend online, but I need to re-prioritize how I spend that time.
- I’ve got a small pile of books by my bedside that I’m going to read, for starters.  There’s also a pretty good sized pile of articles I’ve saved at work that I need to read for the various projects I’m working on.
- Complete Project365, Year 2

4. Think of three of those resolutions, from last year. How did you do in keeping them?

Oh wow, this is bad. Of those 6 goals, I only achieved 2 of them- I completed my 2nd year of Project365 and did a lot more off-line reading (yay for the iPad kindle app, I read 11 books on that plus about a half-dozen others).

Three papers published? A 3 month temp job assignment killed any chance of that, along with another project I was handed that won’t go away.

Fitness? Yup, still have those 10 lbs, plus another 5. Bike riding suffered too, part of that was due to long hours with the temp job, only rode about 1150 miles in 2011.

Less time online? That’s a continual challenge for me, I need to do better at ignoring the online world when I’m at work most of all. That would probably help with that publishing goal too!

5. What was your most memorable sexual happening/experience in 2011?

Oh wow, where to start, I had a number of partners besides Veronica, each of whom was memorable in her own way.  I guess I have to start with Katie, the married-but-cheating woman I saw for about 6 months, it had to end, but the sex was damn good while it lasted. I traveled for a couple of nights of wonderful fun with another friend. After 3 years or so, I finally met up with a long time blogging friend in December (read the comments if you want to know who she is).  And of course, there was Veronica’s 40th birthday treat, how could we possibly forget that?

I’m supposed to pick the *most* memorable from all that, and more? I don’t think so!

Bonus: What was your most memorable experience (activity, event, etc.) in 2011?

From a non-sex related perspective, 5 days in Stuttgart Germany followed by 3 days in Paris France has to be the most memorable! Photos from that week are here, here, here and here, if you’re interested. I had never been anywhere in Europe before, so it a fantastic week, even if I was there for work and Veronica couldn’t join me.

Happy TMI Tuesday!

I don’t exactly have an uncommon first name. According to How Many of Me, there are over 3,700,000 men who share my first name in the US, which makes it the 6th most common.

With that in mind, this is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black, but damn ladies, why do so many of you have similar names?

The problem is, as a swinger who has been known to occasionally sext and share pics with certain friends (yes really!), there’s the risk of sending a message or photo to the wrong person.

Case in point, we have a blogger friend in Florida and a swinger friend nearby who share a first name. I once texted a photo meant for the local friend to the friend in Florida and made a remark about looking forward to seeing her soon. The puzzled reply clued me in (I’m a little slow sometimes) that I might have sent it to the wrong person. Fortunately I had shared similar types of photos with the friend in Florida before, so it was all good.

There have been some close calls though. Remember Katie, who I had a 7 month relationship with? That’s not her real first name (surprise!), she and my sister share the same name. All it took was one fortunately innocuous text to my sister but meant for Katie to keep me on my toes from then on!

Looking in my phone contacts, there are 8 women who share a first name. One I know from childhood, the rest are all friends from blogging or Twitter. I’ve met 4 of the 7 and slept with 2 of them. And, those 2 have the same number of letters & syllables in their last names, so a quick glance won’t do, I need to stop and think “is this who I want to send this to?”

It’s only a matter of time before I fuck up and text the wrong person.

I know, it’s a rough life I lead, keeping my naughty friends straight :-)

After dinner at a nearby restaurant Veronica, Loves2Watch and Suburban_slut (no links, their Twitter accounts are locked) sat back, put their feet up and picked on me chatted about all manner of topics.

I enjoyed seeing both of them again and for Veronica it was her first time meeting either of them. We had a great time!

A year ago, she caught my eye on Twitter and I started following her.

10 months ago, she changed her avatar to a provocative cleavage image. I DM’d her and asked if there might be other, even more revealing, photos of her out there, if I looked hard enough. There weren’t, but that didn’t stop her from emailing me a little visual treat.

7 or 8 months ago, she and her husband opened up their marriage. Veronica and I offered some advice to them and we’d like to think that we’ve helped them successfully navigate the open-marriage waters.  (Veronica- I always love hearing from people who are thinking about opening things up.  The open marriage people are a great community)

4 months ago, she and I thought we might have a chance to meet. Too bad I was in her timezone, and she in mine, at the same time.

2 months ago, another opportunity arose. She was coming to somewhere on the east coast for a week for a conference. Calendars were checked, spouses were consulted, and soon thereafter I bought my plane ticket.

3 days ago, I was sitting in the lobby of her hotel, waiting for her to walk in the door. We were going to have almost 48 hrs together…

=================================

It’s always interesting meeting friends from blogging or Twitter. Will you hit it off really well? Just get along? Not get along that well at all?  Physical attraction, even after extensive photo [and some video :-) ] sharing, isn’t enough. We’ve committed to spending 2 nights together, after only speaking on the phone once before. We’re pretty sure we’ll get along fine, but you never know.

Fortunately, our mutual concerns were quickly cast aside and we established a wonderful personal connection.

Hours of pillow talk in the room

Wandering around a city neither of us knew well at all, even though I’d spent some time in the area before

Taking photographs with her. Thanks to her, I now have 3 weeks of Wanton Wednesday photos, at 3 more Scavenger Hunt locations, ready to go. You might even get to see some of her.

Walking hand in hand through a park and having an older gentlemen remark that we looked like such a nice couple.

Talking about family, friends, Twitter friends, relationships, experiences

We never lacked for conversation. Or for desire to stop the talking for a bit and to fuck yet again.

=================================

I’m not revealing the identity of my Twitter friend, her online persona is a little more vanilla and no one there knows that she has an open marriage. I’m also not writing about our sexual escapades. We had fun, over and over and over, but the details are between she and I.

I will say this about her- she was fabulous :-)

=================================

Veronica: I know that for some people it might seem odd that I am fine with Hubman buying a plane ticket and fucking another woman.  I remember back when we had blog drama some people ripped into me for ‘staying home and baking cookies while my husband fucks other women.’  But you know, I like it.   It turns me on to think of Hubman pleasing, and being pleasured by someone else.  While I do not ask for tons of details, I do hear (and if I’m lucky see pictures) about the sexy fun that happened while I was making spreadsheet magic at work or reading “The Very Fairy Princess” for the 100th time.

One of the benefits of having an open marriage is that it gives us the chance to explore things that the other person might not be as excited about.  While Hubman and I are very compatible and enjoy experimenting, there are things that don’t work for us, either due to the 10″ height difference or a simple desire to try something the other person may not be interested in.  Having other partners gives us almost unlimited opportunities for experimentation, which is pretty stinking awesome.

And at the end of the day, you can’t leave out the emotional component.  Hubman and I may share our bodies with other people, and even deeply care about these people, but he is my Hubman and I will always be his number #1 girl.   It is this security in our love and commitment to each other that allows me to encourage him to go out and follow his heart (cock) and have fun.

I’m not going to name her but if you dig through comments on earlier posts she’s already revealed herself.  To make a long story short, she contacted me in response to my Language Barrier post, written when I was still in Germany, and offered to be my personal guide around Paris. She thought it would be a shame if my language difficulties kept me from enjoying such a beautiful city.

We spent 3 hours walking around the city, chatting, enjoying a meal at an outdoor cafe and generally enjoying each others company. She even gave me a goodnight kiss on each cheek :-)

Here are some of my photos from our walk. Remember, click on any photo to view full-sized in a new window, all photos are 1500 pixels along the long edge and you can really make out some details.

We started by heading towards the Louvre by passing through the Jardin des Tuileries, this is the grand carre, an arrangement of borders around the garden proper.

I had no idea that the Louvre was so big! This is just a fraction of the museum

The view reminded me a little of the National Mall in Washington DC.  You can see the obelisk (better view in Paris, Day 1) and off in the distance the Arc de Triomphe, featured in this post. This photo was taken from the center of the gardens with my back to the Louvre.

Now maybe you can get an idea of the size of the Louvre, quite the building! My guide suggested that it’s best experienced in 3-4 hour blocks of time and to come back on several days to fully appreciate all that it was to offer.  Otherwise it’s just too much in one day, sensory overload of sorts.

We headed across the Seine River, this is from the Port des Arts bridge. The story goes that young couples in love attach a lock to the bridge (something about symbolizing the bond between them) and then throw the key into the river. My guide pointed out that some of them are combination locks.  So much for eternal love!

I have no idea what building this is, all I remember is something about cleaning buildings and how too-frequent cleaning of the relatively soft stone common to many older buildings would degrade the craftsmanship on display. There was also a vaguely sexual joke between us that I can’t remember for the life of me…

Notre Dame Cathedral. If there was any one building that illustrated just how old things in Europe are compared to the US, it was this, ground was broken in 1163 and it was completed in 1345.

Okay, I’d like to know the artists motivation for carving a statue where the Bishop is holding his own head. WTF?

Those are the highlights, thanks again to my tour guide, I wouldn’t have had half as much fun wandering the city without her. I think that may be it for my Paris photos, I did return to the Louvre the next morning before heading to the airport, we’ll see if I feel like posting those one of these days.

Last Friday when Veronica and I were in Denver I woke up to this e-mail
“Still in Denver? I am in town and would love to meet you and your wife”

Obviously, this caught my interest, more so because I had absolutely no idea who the sender was!

I replied “We’re here until Saturday morning. Have we crossed paths before in the online world?”

“I enjoy your blog…especially your photography. (I’m not one that posts comments though.)  When I read your business travel entries, I think..damn..I wish hubman would travel to Denver :)

We exchanged a few more messages and she quickly hinted that if we met and there was chemistry that she was looking for more than just a “hi, nice to meet you” kind of evening.  As if there was any doubt, she included a photo of her ass in which she’s wearing a black thong  and she said “If I can work it out I would love to have a drink with you and your cute wife….maybe even have you untie my bow!”

I’ve enjoyed meeting numerous readers over the years, and some of those meetings have lead to fun times behind closed doors (yeah yeah don’t act so surprised…), but I don’t think I’ve ever had someone be so up front about the possibility!  I liked it :-)

Unfortunately, Veronica and I only had 1 night left in town and our new friend was not able to get a sitter on such short notice so we couldn’t meet up.  After she later showed me her pretty smiling face, I was even more disappointed we couldn’t connect.  Oh well, it’s still nice to think about what could have been…

Somehow it manages to make it’s way around the country and even points beyond

It’s so famous it has it’s own blog

It’s the OsShirt, last summer Veronica and I got to wear it, you might recall this post or this post

Click here for the story and more pictures!

And because I’m such a nice guy, here’s an outtake of Veronica modeling the OsShirt :-)

I teased you about being out with a blogger friend when I posted this picture of the Wonder Works building on Monday.

And I tease you again when I mentioned going to a blogger friends house when I posted the  Sunset Silhouette photograph on Friday.

Are you the least bit curious to know who I was teasing you about?

Click here, my dear friend Ivey Lane wrote all about it!

Okay, not literally everyone, Veronica and I have more than a few readers and our house isn’t that big!

On the day after Thanksgiving last year, in response to a number of people expressing displeasure with their Thanksgiving Day plans, or lack thereof, we wrote the following:

Here are the Top 9 Reasons to attend Blogger-Giving at Hubman and Veronica’s

  1. An awesome (adult only) group HNT of everyone’s butts.
  2. A  lovely breakfast on Thursday with the Macy’s parade on TV
  3. A full Thanksgiving dinner (perhaps we can do it Italian style and even have ravioli)
  4. Football!  Football!  Football!
  5. Lots of Booze.
  6. Veronica insisting that we all crash at whatever guests are staying at the local Holiday Inn Express so we can swim off dinner in the pool.
  7. On Friday, a road trip to Plymouth Rock to see the replica of the Mayflower and enjoy the history.
  8. Lots of food, fun, and friendly conversation with people who do not know every button to push or any magical phrases to make you feel guilty.
  9. For those who have kids, hopefully there will be tons of kids around so they will all play with each other and not bug the parents.  Then if the weather’s nice we can have the kiddie table outside!

Did you think we were kidding?  We’re not!

Have either of us met you?  Have we ever spoken on the phone?  Do we know your real name?  Then you’re invited!  If you can’t answer yes but think we’d enjoy the pleasure of your company anyway, let us know and we’ll see.

So who’s in?

Get used to seeing that Twitter hashtag on Friday, the New York Sex Bloggers Calendar Party is tonight, and Veronica and I are going!  Click here for full information about the calendar, what the proceeds are being used to support, and where the party is going to be held.

My dad and my sister are working together to watch the kids for us, so we can stay in the city until mid-day Sunday and make a proper getaway out of the weekend.  Who knows what we’ll end up doing on Saturday!

I wonder which of these bras Veronica will be wearing until her dress at the party?  Or will she be wearing one at all? :-)
