The detritus of weed-wacking the edges of my lawn Wednesday morning
[You really should click to view this one full-sized, I think the detail is pretty impressive!]

An afternoon thunderstorm rolled through the area, as it cleared the sun came back out while the rain was still coming down. A relatively slow shutter speed allowed me to capture the rain against the backdrop of the sun on the trees

I stepped out of the house Friday morning to just a few light sprinkles of rain. It soon turned into a torrential downpour that lasted for over 30 minutes! I tweeted one photo yesterday morning and pulled over to get a better one with my SLR.

Fortunately today looks like it’s going to be a beautiful summer day. Good thing, Katie and I are going hiking later today and I may finally get to meet Kelly, who might join us :-)

For comparison, check out Day 102, which was taken at the same location, just facing the other direction.  Notice the concrete pier that the dog is jumping from?  Now notice the concrete pier in this picture.  That’s a 170+ acre reservoir that is down about 6 feet!

Shortly after I moved from a hotel into proper long term lodging a month or so ago, I had a voicemail message letting me know that they took care of the mold problem.  This was news to me, since I had just moved in, and was likely in response to something from whoever lived here before me.  I didn’t think anything of it, until the other day and the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine hit the San Antonio area.

Apparently, there is still a problem, since this wet spot appeared on the carpet when Hermine hit. That can’t be good….

The remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine hit the San Antonio area on Tuesday and into early Wednesday, dumping about 6″ of rain on the area.  At this time, I think this sign isn’t really necessary!

See all of the brush in the water? That’s all piled up at the guardrail where the road crosses the stream.  Except today, and probably for the next several days, the stream crosses the road!

It rained Wednesday afternoon and the wet yard thwarted PP’s plans after dinner….

Sunday was one of those rain then sun then more rain then more sun kind of days.  15 minutes before I took this picture (from inside my garage!) the sun was shining….

After dinner PP insisted that she and I take the dog for a walk, since it was so nice out.  Here is the sky 2 hrs after I took the first picture!

I know, enough already!! What can I say, after 4 straight days and several inches of rainfall, there isn’t much else to take pictures of.  But the weather is supposed to turn for the better on Tuesday, so I’ll find something new for tomorrow!

This is a normally a nice, gentle little creek.  Monday? Not so much…

And there’s usually several feet of clearance between the water and the underside of the roadway, not just a few inches

Back on Day 58 I posted some flooding pictures after a storm in an area where it’s not so unusual to see a little flooding.
But in my backyard? Never before in the 3 yrs that we’ve lived here!

I must be getting brave- this is my first picture on all manual control.  Yay me…
