As seen when I blindly shoot a photo out the window at 70 mph!
Happy New Year from TMI Tuesday blog. I’ve enjoyed discovering and reading so many new blogs via TMI Tuesday. Thanks to all the players that submitted questions, themes or ideas in 2011. If you have questions you’d like to see answered for TMI Tuesday, please read the ABOUT page. Now here we go…the first TMI Tuesday questions for 2012:
1. Finish this sentence: In the New Year, as good as last year was, I hope this one is even better!
2. Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? If yes, what are they for 2012?
I haven’t made any resolutions this year. I’ve got a number of poorly defined goals in mind, but nothing concrete. I suppose how poorly I did with resolutions last year (see question 4) is making me hesitate. I really should suck it up and publicly commit to achieving some goals this year…
3. What New Year’s resolutions did you make last year?
From Backwards and Forwards, published Jan 2, 2011:
- I’m going to publish a minimum of 3 peer-reviewed papers at work (the projects have been on-going, this won’t be as tough as it might sound)
- Those 10 lbs I gained? Goodbye!
- My best year riding was in 2006 when I rode 1875 miles. This year? 2000 is my goal!
- Less time online, between work and home I spend too much time looking at computer screens. I’ve already trimmed a number of blogs from my Google Reader subscriptions and have committed to less time on Twitter via my phone during the workday. I enjoy the time I spend online, but I need to re-prioritize how I spend that time.
- I’ve got a small pile of books by my bedside that I’m going to read, for starters. There’s also a pretty good sized pile of articles I’ve saved at work that I need to read for the various projects I’m working on.
- Complete Project365, Year 2
4. Think of three of those resolutions, from last year. How did you do in keeping them?
Oh wow, this is bad. Of those 6 goals, I only achieved 2 of them- I completed my 2nd year of Project365 and did a lot more off-line reading (yay for the iPad kindle app, I read 11 books on that plus about a half-dozen others).
Three papers published? A 3 month temp job assignment killed any chance of that, along with another project I was handed that won’t go away.
Fitness? Yup, still have those 10 lbs, plus another 5. Bike riding suffered too, part of that was due to long hours with the temp job, only rode about 1150 miles in 2011.
Less time online? That’s a continual challenge for me, I need to do better at ignoring the online world when I’m at work most of all. That would probably help with that publishing goal too!
5. What was your most memorable sexual happening/experience in 2011?
Oh wow, where to start, I had a number of partners besides Veronica, each of whom was memorable in her own way. I guess I have to start with Katie, the married-but-cheating woman I saw for about 6 months, it had to end, but the sex was damn good while it lasted. I traveled for a couple of nights of wonderful fun with another friend. After 3 years or so, I finally met up with a long time blogging friend in December (read the comments if you want to know who she is). And of course, there was Veronica’s 40th birthday treat, how could we possibly forget that?
I’m supposed to pick the *most* memorable from all that, and more? I don’t think so!
Bonus: What was your most memorable experience (activity, event, etc.) in 2011?
From a non-sex related perspective, 5 days in Stuttgart Germany followed by 3 days in Paris France has to be the most memorable! Photos from that week are here, here, here and here, if you’re interested. I had never been anywhere in Europe before, so it a fantastic week, even if I was there for work and Veronica couldn’t join me.

Happy TMI Tuesday!
Geographically speaking, that is. This sign in on the Mass Pike in the Berkshires.
There were other, less literal, high points of my little overnight excursion, check out my Sinful Sunday post for more about that
Can someone explain what the fuck is up with this “bridge”? This was back on I-90 in NY, along the Mohawk River. There were at least 2 others that I saw, looks like there are “arms” underneath that would pivot down towards the surface of the river.
18 years ago, Veronica and I started our married life living and working in the Portsmouth area. Who would have guessed that years later we would return for a naughty getaway with a special friend, in celebration of Veronica’s 40th birthday yesterday?
Before we returned home, I took a short walk around the area by our hotel. I forgot how old Portsmouth is, but given its maritime heritage it’s not really surprising.
There is also an enormous mural on the side of a large building a few blocks away of 2 large whales, but it really needs some upkeep, the mural is showing it’s age. This one, on the other hand, looks pretty good!
I used to work as a personal trainer at a gym a few blocks from here – this is the dock at Granite State Minerals, where many many New England towns get their supply of salt for the roads. All throughout the summer and fall the salt pile grows, here you can see to loaders at work, out of view to the right is a large cargo ship and some bucket cranes unloading more salt. The speed at which the pile diminishes during the winter is probably a good barometer of the severity of the winter!
Her request to take a week of vacation time was approved.
Grandparents were all set to watch the kids for the week.
She bought a plane ticket.
We were all set for Veronica to join me for a week in Denver while I was there for a conference.
And then barely after those arrangements were set we found out that I would be going to Stuttgart and Paris for a week. [Stories and pics from that trip are here, here, here, here and here.] Veronica’s ticket to Denver was non-refundable and with all of the other arrangements we had in place, it just wasn’t feasible for her to join me overseas for a week.
Once I returned and she saw my photos and heard my stories, she lamented that she wasn’t able to join me. I could tell just how disappointed she was, she had never been overseas and had long dreamed of visiting Paris someday.
Just go, I told her.
Her 40th birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, we decided that she should go, have that crazy (for her) solo adventure that she’s always dreamed of. The long Columbus Day weekend seemed like a good time and she has the vacation time saved up, so why not?
As I’m writing this on Wednesday evening, she is somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean. If I make it up to midnight I’ll be awake for her text message letting me know she landed in Paris. She’s going to be there for 4 full days, we’ll get her back on Monday afternoon.
The kids and I will certainly miss her, but I KNOW that she’s going to have the time of her life and I’m more than happy to play Mr Mom while she’s exploring The City of Light.
She added an international data option to her phone plan, so expect her to post updates and photos on Twitter while she’s there. You can follow her here.
The idea of the Scavenger Hunt is to be inappropriately exposed in various places.
I could be butt-naked in a park
I could have my pants down around my ankles while in my office at work
I could be exposing myself in the middle of the road
Or, it could be something tamer, yet inappropriate in it’s own way, depending on your perspective.
What we have here is a normal appearing couple sitting in the airport waiting for a flight and holding hands. What you don’t see is that I’m heading home to Veronica, and she to her husband. You also wouldn’t know that we spent the last 48 hours engaged in various carnal delights, which our spouses knew all about.
I suspect that would be inappropriate to a number of people.

If you really want to see more of my friend, you may already have, she was my HNT Mystery Guest not too long ago

This bridge, from a different perspective, while make a return appearance for a future Wanton Wednesday Scavenger Hunt post. And now you probably have the information you need to figure out where I was the last couple of days, shacked up in a hotel room with a friend
Featuring our model, Veronica!
Not a bad hotel suite for a Holiday Inn Express. Princess Persistent is sleeping on a fold-out in the other room and DB elected to stay at my moms. Veronica and I have a king bed (there’s plenty of room for company!), a jacuzzi tub in the room and a well-placed mirror on the wall. Too bad we were too tired on Wednesday night to properly take advantage of the room, but there’s still Thursday night.
